Songfacts®:

  • This song was written in Definitely Maybe producer Owen Coyle's bedroom. Owen had ex-Stone Roses lead guitarist John Squire's acoustic guitar in the corner. Noel, Liam and Owen recorded there and then. >>>
    Suggestion credit:
    Daragh - Dublin, Ireland
  • The living room depicted on the cover of the Definitely Maybe album belonged to guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs.
  • This song was inspired by Noel's then-girlfriend, Louise Jones, who was being kept awake by the Oasis songwriter while he was practicing on his guitar. She was getting fed up and told Noel, "your music's s--te." Gallagher said he "had to keep those lines" and then wrote this song.
  • This has the same chord progression structure as Nirvana's "Lithium." >>>
    Suggestion credit:
    Bertrand - Paris, France
  • The song was inspired by the American sitcom Married... with Children. Noel Gallagher told Melody Maker: "I looked at them two in the show, and looked at us two, and I thought, that's us, that is!"
  • Noel Gallagher: "It's another song that anybody could relate to, because if you live with a girlfriend or just a flatmate, there are always petty things that you hate about them, and this song's just about pettiness."
