Songfacts®:

  • "Jealousy" is a track from Offset's second solo album, Blame It On Set. It features his wife Cardi B for their first collaboration since 2019's "Clout." Offset released the song as a single via Motown on July 28, 2023.
  • Offset and Cardi B tag-team, firing shots in their verses as they silence the gossipmongers trying to dissect their relationship.

Offset throws plenty of punches during his extended verse, flinging riches and wins in the faces of haters, making them look small. He's paints them as lightweight contenders. Meanwhile, Cardi B locks onto her female foes. She dishes out advice like hotcakes, telling them to ditch the gossip about her union. Instead, she cautions them to worry about their own dudes and they're cozying up with.
  • Offset first teased "Jealousy" on July 24, 2023, with a trailer featuring himself as Godfather of Soul James Brown and actress Jamie Lee Curtis as TV journalist Sonya Friedman. It parodies Brown's 1988 strange, sexist interview with CNN.
  • The track blazes in with an exchange between Curtis and Cardi B. We then hear a sample from the intro of Three 6 Mafia's 2000 song "Jealous Ass Bitch" from their Underground Vol. 3 album.
  • The song's beat rides on a backbone of "Jealous Ass Bitches," which itself samples Grover Washington, Jr.'s 1973 version of the Billie Holiday song, "Don't Explain." Because Billie Holiday co-wrote "Don't Explain," she is listed as one of the co-writers for "Jealous," a collab nobody saw coming.
  • Offset and Cardi wrote "Jealousy" with the song's producers OZ (Drake, DJ Khaled), Boi-1da (Drake, Nicki Minaj) and Jahaan Sweet (Drake, Travis Scott).
  • Offset and J3K Logistics, the rapper's production company, produced and directed the video, which pays tribute to the 2001 hood comedy-drama movie Baby Boy. Shot in Los Angeles, it features Offset, Cardi and the film's star, Taraji P Henson. The couple's daughter Kulture and son Wave make cameo appearances alongside Offset's three children from previous relationships.
