  • In this stadium stomper, OneRepublic promise to give it their all, at least until the love runs out, which could take a while. It's filled with pulsating beats and action phrases like "killing every second" and "making you run" that give it the YOLO vibe.
  • The follow up to OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" single, "Love Runs Out" was a new track that didn't feature on their Native album. Speaking to Capital FM, frontman Ryan Tedder said: "The very short back story on the song was when we were working on Native I originally thought this was going to be the first single and it's called 'Love Runs Out' and I wanted it to be the first single, a few of us in the band did, but I could not finish the chorus. And you can't have a song without a chorus."

"It took me about a year," he added. "We finished it in Paris."
  • The video was directed by Sophie Muller. The British director has also worked on music videos for Sade, Björk and Katy B.
  • In the line, "Got an angel on my shoulder and Mestopheles," we're guessing Mestopheles is a contracted version of Mephistopheles, the name of a demon. Ryan Tedder probably needed one less syllable.

You can hear the unabridged name in The Police song "Wrapped Around Your Finger," where Sting sings, "Mephistopheles is not your name."
  • If the vocal melody rings a bell, it could be because it sounds similar to the Kanye West song "Love Lockdown" from six years earlier.
