Songfacts®:

  • Overkill lead singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and bass player D. D. Verni wrote the songs on the band's album White Devil Armory. The thread of the album is the word "Armory," which Verni envisioned when coming up with riff. Once he wrote the music for this song, Ellsworth created a character for the concept who he called "The Armorist."

"At this point in his journey, there's nothing louder than the silence inside of his head," Ellsworth explained in our interview. "He is unto himself, alone, he is isolated, but continues to complete the task at hand, whatever that task may be."
  • In this song, the armorist comes out with guns blazing. Whether it's metaphorical or not is up to the listener, as Ellsworth writes in the abstract. The key emotions in the song are loneliness and anger, which sets the stage for the rest of the album. Ellsworth points out that anger isn't always a bad thing, and in this case it's "efficient anger."
