  • The band was formed in 1980 in New Jersey by singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and bassist D.D. Verni, who are their only constant members.
  • Overkill got their name from the title track from Motörhead's second album. Overkill cites Motörhead as one of their biggest influences, and in 1988, they got the opportunity to open for their heroes.
  • D.D. Verni's given name is Carlos Verni. He acquired the D.D. nickname as a reference to former Ramones bassist Dee Dee Ramone.
  • Danny Spitz was once the guitarist for Overkill (1981). However, he never played on their albums, and would later join Anthrax. He was replaced by Gustafson, who would play on all Overkill albums up to the fourth, The Years of Decay. >>
