Songfacts®:

  • Tillis explained the real-life inspiration behind the song in our 2012 interview: "Well, we were on the road a lot back then. Right now I think I do somewhere between 6 and 8 dates a month. Back then, we were out 17, 19, up to 20 dates a month. I mean, we were just gone all the time. And anybody who's done that knows that'll make you feel crazy. It's good, it's fun. But it's very much like living in the eye of a hurricane."
  • Much as this would lead you to expect, the song is an ode to how chaotic and unmanageable life sometimes seems. Rather than bemoaning this, Tillis embraces this quality of life.
  • The song was Tillis's first to hit #1 on the Billboard country charts, making her father, Mel Tillis, very proud.
  • Tillis came up with the title for the song after seeing a guest on the TV show Geraldo with a "mi vida loca" tattoo.

  • Al from PaGeraldo? I actually thought that this song was a tie-in to the movie Mi Vida Loca, which was out at around the same time.
