Songfacts®:

  • In this Country Skiffle, Nutini pays tribute to his father Alfredo. The Scot told The Sun May 29, 2009 that he credits his father and mother Linda, who runs Castlevecchi, the family's chip shop in Paisley, for giving him his strong work ethic. Said Nutini: "The shop's been in the family for more than 100 years and though I was ready to go and work there, I wasn't enthusiastic about it. How can anyone be - frying fish for 12 hours a day? It was something my dad had to do. That's why my parents have supported my music. I wasn't the most academic and even though I love football, I was never going to be able to do anything there. But with music they saw I had an enthusiasm for it."
