Songfacts®:

  • The Passion Conferences are annual gatherings of young adult Christians, especially college students. The organization is also responsible for the Passion CDs, which has birthed some of the most popular anthems in modern worship music. This song by Kristian Stanfill was recorded for the 2015 album, Passion: Even So Come.
  • Stanfill wrote the song along with Brett Younker, Jason Ingram and Matt Maher leading up to Passion 2015. It was inspired by an experience that happened to Stanfill at a Christian conference when he was 13 years old and didn't know what it meant to follow Jesus. The Holy Spirit opened his eyes to what being a follower of Christ really meant. He explained to New Release Tuesday: "Really the song is our story, and it is anyone's story who has been brought from death to life, out of darkness and into light. It is the story that we were dead, without hope and didn't have a chance at life until Jesus came and found us where we were and opened our eyes to see the Cross. Then, everything changed. That's the heart behind the song."
