Songfacts®:

  • "Moon On Your Pyjamas" is a song of fatherly devotion written by Paul Weller for his then 5-year-old son, Natt. "I was away on Natty's 5th birthday," Weller recalled to Mojo magazine. "I was on tour in America somewhere and I was really gutted, and I remember writing that song for him. But I never asked him what he thought about it... Not for years anyway."
  • Fast forward 27 years, and Weller draws inspiration from a visit to Natt in Los Angeles to create "On Sunset," the title track of his 2020 album. This newer composition is infused with memories of touring in LA with The Jam. Adding a familial touch to the project, Natt's boyfriend, Martin Kovalenko, a Ukrainian fashion film director, directed the music video for "On Sunset."
  • "Moon On Your Pyjamas" is the penultimate track on Paul Weller's second solo album, Wild Wood. It introduces a tender and intimate dimension, adding a new layer to the album's exploration of nostalgia, reflection, and Weller's personal growth.
