Songfacts®:

  • PTX's vocal percussionist, Kevin Olusola, is a big gangsta rap fan and brought some hip hop-inspired ideas to bandmate Scott Hoying (baritone), and the pair wrote "First Things First." Olusola said: "It's really fun, it's chancy, it kind of just bumps in the car."

Hoying added: "It's about staying humble."
  • "It's funny, for the past year, Kevin's always singing this: 'International love,'" Hoying explained in the album's track-by-track commentary. "He's like always singing it and we knew that hook 'cos he sang it so much and then we were like: 'Alright, let's put it in this song. We're going to bring it to life.'"
