Songfacts®:

  • This Three track finds Sarah Barthel singing sad lyrics over a sparse EDM-meets-piano instrumental. "'Cruel World' was one of the first songs we wrote for Three," she told Complex. "It set the tone for the album in a huge way for us. The overall message is about how tragic life can be at times - how the world can bring you down... but you have to try to find the beauty in it sometimes."
  • Dan Wilson wrote this song with the Phantogram duo along with their producer, Ricky Reed. Wilson also co-wrote "You Don't Get Me High Anymore."
