Songfacts®:

  • The title song from Phil Lynott's 1980 solo album runs 4:15 and has a reggae feel to it. It is a slightly sordid song, with Lynott addressing a lady who gives her love to all the other guys, but not him (a prostitute, perhaps?). It's a similar storyline to "Roxanne" by The Police, released two years earlier.
  • Soho is a popular area in London. It's a great word to sing when combined with "solo," as Lynott does here, fitting as it's his first solo album. Lynott is best known for his work in Thin Lizzy.
  • There is an extended and somewhat atmospheric live recording from Lynott's 1983 solo Scandinavian tour, which included Thin Lizzy drummer Brian Downey. >>>
