Songfacts®:

  • Pitbull hooks up with J Balvin and Camila Cabello for this Latin-flavored love song. The tune was recorded for the Fate of the Furious movie with the three artists recording separate English and Spanish versions for the soundtrack.
  • J. Balvin and Camila Cabello portray the lovers in the song while Pitbull dedicates his verse to his ancestral home island of Cuba.
  • The song was originally supposed to be a collaboration between Pitbull, Romeo Santos and Britney Spears. "Funny story behind that," Pitbull told Radio.com. "At first, it was me and Romeo Santos, Britney Spears was on the record. [The] Fast and Furious [team] ends up loving the record. And they brought on board J Balvin and Camila Cabello. So, it's been an interesting journey. To watch it go on to become the intro to the movie - the first huge movie franchise to shoot in Cuba - is an amazing honor."

Pitbull added that Spears was cool about hearing the news that her version wasn't going to be used in the film. "She was a great sport, she's been in the business for years. She said, 'Don't even worry about that. We'll use it for the remix, or we'll do another record together.'"
  • Pitbull's relationship with the Fast and Furious franchise goes back a long way. The 2003 movie 2 Fast 2 Furious was shot in Miami and featured his song "Oye." The following year, his debut album M.I.A.M.I. was released. The rapper credits Furious with breaking his career.
