Songfacts®:

  • "Cover Me In Sunshine" is a duet between Pink and her 9-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart. Released on February 12, 2021 during the COVID pandemic, the sweet song looks forward to a brighter future when lockdown is over.
  • The mother-daughter duo first premiered the feel-good song on TikTok when Willow concluded a brief conversation by saying, "Or I could just sing 'Cover Me in Sunshine.'" She then sang a snippet of the tune. A couple of days later, they announced the official release of the track.
  • Pink explained her motive for recording the tune: "We all know this year has been different and challenging and at times terrifying and tumultuous and angsty and all the things. And I personally find comfort in music, I find comfort in song, I love singing with my daughter and my son."

Pink added she recorded "Cover Me in Sunshine" at home because "it made us feel happy and so we're gonna put it out for no other reason than that we hope that the song makes you feel happy."
  • This is the second collaboration between Pink and her daughter. Willow first revealed her vocal skills when the pair covered Nat King Cole's festive classic "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)" on stage in December 2020 for The Disney Holiday Singalong show.
  • Pink didn't write the song. It was penned by:

Amy Allen, whose other credits include Halsey's "Without Me," Harry Styles' "Adore You" and Selena Gomez's "Back to You. She also played the guitar on the track.

Maureen "Mozella" McDonald, who also penned Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball." Other hit songs on the Detroit singer-songwriter's resume include Charlie Puth's "One Call Away" and One Direction's "Perfect."
  • Jakob Jerlström and Ludwig Söderberg produced the song. Otherwise known as The Struts, the Swedish duo are Tove Lo's longtime production team.
  • The song topped the singles charts in Belgium (Wallonia), Romania, and Slovakia. It also reached the Top 10 in several other European territories and Australia.
