Songfacts®:

  • Saint-Tropez is a town on the French Riviera. Renowned for its amazing beaches, it is a tourist destination for the European and American jet set. Here, Post Malone uses the seaside resort to describe the lavish and hedonistic lifestyle he leads.

I'm in Saint-Tropez, I had to check wrist
I just bought my girl a new necklace
One, two, three, four, five, six
I'll take 'em all, don't matter what the price is
  • During the chorus, Post reflects on the years of hard work which have now borne fruit.

    Such a long time
I've been waitin', I've been waitin' for a long time

The hook mirrors Malone's song "Congratulations"; that track also talks about how the singer-rapper has found success as a result of his dedication and toil.
  • The celebratory track contrasts with the depressing songs on Malone's Hollywood's Bleeding album. Those tracks find the singer-rapper miserable - usually because of women troubles. Malone explained on Spotify that on "Saint-Tropez," he "just wanted to kind of just be super flossy and shiny" as a balance. "I like to just go buck-wild with the boys," he added. "And that's what that's kind of about. It's a celebration of life instead of an introspective kind of [song]. I'll be happy sometimes."
  • The braggadocios song was produced by:

Frank Dukes, who has also worked with the likes of Drake ("0 to 100/ The Catch Up"), Rihanna ("Needed Me") and Camila Cabello ("Havana"). The Toronto native co-produced five other Hollywood's Bleeding tracks, including the singles "Wow" and "Circles."

Julliard-trained Jahaan Sweet, whose other credits include Eminem's "Lucky You" and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodies's "Drowning (Water)."

Wallis Lane, who has also worked with Drake ("Is There More") and Travis Scott ("Wake Up").
