Songfacts®:

  • This is the second single from British hip hop recording artist Stephen Manderson, aka Professor Green's, second studio album, Alive Till I'm Dead. The song is a remake of Beats International 1990 chart-topper, "Dub Be Good To Me."
  • Manderson originally made the track in 2007 and at the time it featured English singer-songwriter Neon Hitch on the chorus. However, when his record company folded the track was put on hold. Manderson then re-recorded the song with Lily Allen. He explained to Orange Music Store how the collaboration came about: "We 'bumped into each other' on her Facebook. We had a conversation while she was actually somewhere in Europe. We spoke about 'I Need You Tonight,' and I mentioned that I hadn't cleared the sample, but mentioned that I had the usage for 'Dub Be Good To Me,' so I was able to do a remake and she said that it was her favourite song ever. She wanted to hear what I had done with it, so I sent it over and she said, 'Why don't you let me sing the vocal and we can perform it live at festivals?', which was a jaw-dropping moment for me. A few weeks later, we were in the studio recording it; a few weeks after that we were at Bestival."
  • Lily Allen also appears in the song's music video. Manderson told The Sun: "Lily is wicked. She's looking iconic, as she always does. She's straightforward and honest, you always know where you're at with her. And there are girls everywhere who are not wearing much. Girls is the theme. There is also a conveyor belt which was nicked from The Price Is Right set next door."
Allen added: "It was a bit scary - I'd had a couple of glasses of wine before getting on the conveyor belt."
