Songfacts®:

  • Protomartyr is a Detroit punk band formed in 2008. The group comprises vocalist Joe Casey, guitarist Greg Ahee, bassist Scott Davidson and drummer Alex Leonard. on drums and Scott Davidson on bass guitar. This is a track from their second album Under Color of Official Right.
  • The band's lyricist Joe Casey likes to take mundane ideas and turn them into something interesting. This song was inspired by repeated viewings of the TV show Law And Order. Casey explained to UK magazine NME: "Over here there's a cable channel that is just nothing but Law And Order shows repeated over and over again. And I've got aunt who's getting on in age and she's getting a little dementia, but you can put on Law And Order in the morning and she'll watch one after another. And I do too sometimes."
