Songfacts®:

  • This track was originally released as the first single from Public Enemy's 20th anniversary album, How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul?. Though it did not chart in the UK at the time, the song finally arrived in the British top 20 in 2012 after featuring on a Channel 4 trailer promoting the British TV network's coverage of the 2012 Paralympic games.
  • The song became Public Enemy's highest charting single in the UK ever, usurping the #16 peak of "He Got Game" which was released in June 1998.
  • The use of the song in other media has not been restricted to the UK. ESPN utilized it in American commercials for their broadcasting of the Winter X Games and "Harder" also soundtracked the same broadcaster's coverage of the 2011 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament. In addition, the tune was featured heavily in a 2011 Fall K-Mart advert.
