Fast Car

Album: Persona (2009)
Play Video

Songfacts®:

  • This is the second single from Queen Latifah's ninth studio album, Persona. Unlike Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car", she's still exhilarated by her man, eager to spend more time along for the ride.
  • Missy Elliott features on the track, lending a rap verse. She's a first-call rapper for features; around this time she also showed up on a remix of The Pussycat Dolls' "Whatcha Think About That."
  • The video was shot at Wall Township Speedway in South Belmar, New Jersey. Elliott appears in the video, along with Common, Robin Thicke and his wife, actress Paula Patton. Latifah told MTV News: "I just asked them, and I really appreciate all of them showing up, because they all have really busy schedules. They got to drive these Mustangs around this track a little, put the pedal to the metal, which is always fun."
