Songfacts®:

  • This song was the first single from Raghav's 2012 album, The Phoenix. The singer tells us he picked this track to be the first single because "it was about the sound." He wrote the song with the producer Labrinth back in 2010, before Labrinth gained notoriety for his collaborations with Tinie Tempah and for his solo album Electronic Earth. Raghav says, "the synth sound that goes through it said clubby, fun, electronic, but at the same time, it was playful. What I really wanted to do was write something playful and flirtatious." (Here's our full interview with Raghav.)
  • Raghav says he and Labrinth wrote this song fairly quickly, and that although few songs he writes are sound-based, this one had to have a specific synth sound to it. Said Raghav, "I get a real inspiration from a particular sound in the record that helps me bounce off that to write a whole piece."
  • The Toronto rapper Kardinal Offishall appears on this song. It was not the first time the two have collaborated, as Kardi was also featured on a song on Raghav's 2005 debut album Storyteller. When we asked Raghav why Kardi was the best person to put on a verse on this song, he said, "When you think of energetic, playful, but clever, that pretty much describes Kardi, right? I had to come back to him for it and he very graciously accepted."
