Songfacts®:

  • Rag'n'Bone Man wrote this song after reading German writer Patrick Süskind's 1985 novel Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. He told Q magazine:

"That book's dark as f--k, but it's such an interesting concept - somebody thinking about smell of the one you love. But I wouldn't write that now, because I'm never at home and I've forgotten what my girlfriend smells like."
