Here's To You

Songfacts®:

  • This song is a musical thank you to Rascal Flatts' fans, the ones who come to the shows, wait outside for the band, and put their lighters up during the slow songs (this was 2004, before phones replaced lighters at concerts). They had only been around for five years, but quickly built up a huge fan base with an accessible pop-country sound that cast a wide net. Outlaw country diehards scoffed, but they were far outnumbered.
  • The tour for the Feels Like Today album, the band's third, was named the "Here's To You" tour after this song, a nod to their fan support. Fittingly, they played it as the first song in their sets. Rascal Flatts spent much of 2002 touring with Toby Keith, but became headliners the next year with their Melt tour.
  • Rascal Flatts bass player Jay DeMarcus wrote this song with the Nashville songwriters Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley. Most of the band's songs were composed by outside writers, but the group made some contributions. Thrasher and Mobley teamed with lead singer Gary LeVox for another track on the album, "Fast Cars And Freedom."
