Songfacts®:

  • This song took Rat Boy nearly a year to complete. He explained to Clash magazine: "I had the whole song together apart from the chorus, and then my laptop broke halfway through making it, so I didn't have the stems for it for a long time. Eventually I managed to get them back so I could carry on working on it."
  • Gorillaz and Blur frontman Damon Albarn helped Rat Boy on the chorus and played some keyboards on the tune too. He told NME:

"I met him at 13 Studios and we started chatting about Essex. He kind of help steer (the album) in the right direction and we worked on 'Turn Round M8' and 'Get Over It' with him.

It's cool because 13 Studios are two rooms next to each other, with a glass wall. Next door they were making the Gorillaz record. They were in their 9 a.m. till 7 p.m., trying new stuff out - that inspired us to be there every day making music."
