Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track off the third solo album by former Kinks frontman Ray Davies. During a concert screened by BBC2 less than a week after its release, Davies told the audience he wrote this song about being abroad and not being able to get a cup of tea anywhere, and when he returned to England he couldn't get one here either!

Davies says the song is about "changes in the world." >>

  • This song was inspired by a trip Ray Davies took to Exeter to see his brother (and bandmate), Dave. The song reflects on their tumultuous relationship, and how he is coming to terms with it.
