Songfacts®:

  • Rich Gang is a hip-hop group featuring members of Cash Money, Young Money and their various collaborators. However the first single from their second album features no YMCMB presence outside of ad-libs from ringleader Birdman, who dedicates the track to his late mama.

Instead the bass-heavy track features a pair of Atlanta's rising new stars rapping about the good life. Young Thug handles the hook and opening two verses, before Rich Homie Quan spits the closing 16 bars.
  • The song was produced by London On Da Track, who previously worked with Rich Homie Quan on 'They Don't Know" and Young Thug on "Baby."
  • Birdman also teamed up with Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan for the November 2014 The Lifestyle Tour and Tha Tour Part 1 mixtape. Birdman explained In an interview with XXL why he hooked up with Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan. "I became friends with Thug first, and he introduced me to Quan," he said. "I saw talent in them, and I wanted to see them reach the next level. saw that they weren't just rappers they are artists with the potential to be musicians - like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj. I recognized that type of spirit in them from day one."
  • Country-pop artist Morgan Wallen interpolated the song for his 2023 One Thing at a Time track "180 (Lifestyle)."
  • "Lifestyle" unexpectedly reclaimed the spotlight in early 2024 thanks to two viral moments. Model Alex Consani sparked the revival with a breezy video of herself dancing to the track at brunch.

A few days later, "Lifestyle" was played in the courtroom during Young Thug's racketeering trial, and social media went wild.
