  • Rixton lead singer Jake Roche and bassist/keyboardist Danny Wilkin began writing together in the early 2010s in Danny's parent's caravan in the North West of England. A couple of years later they were introduced to guitarist Charley Bagnall through mutual friends before stumbling upon drummer Lewi Morgan in a back alley of a Manchester pub playing pots and pans.

The band steadily earned a large YouTube following from their re-imagined covers, including Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble," Rita Ora's "How We Do (Party)" and Chris Brown's "Don't Wake Me Up," eventually catching the ear of Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun. After signing with Braun's School Boy Records, Rixton released a video for the self-penned track "Make Out," which swiftly racked up over one million YouTube views.
  • Working with producer Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, Maroon 5), Rixton wrote this sultry tune, which was released as their debut single and premiered on JoJo Wright's show on KIIS FM in Los Angeles. "It's basically a lifetime of broken hearts and desperation of love," Lewi told MTV News.
  • The band shot a video for the track with Cameron Duddy, who has also directed clips for Bruno Mars, OneRepublic, and Grouplove. The clip takes place at a Los Angeles boxing ring. "This girl kind of sets us up and we invest our own money in a poker game and we get set up, like, ripped off," Jake explained to MTV News. "We wanted to make like a Guy Ritchie-type film and get our acting heads on."
  • The song features an interpolation of Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas' 2005 solo hit "Lonely No More." Jake told Billboard magazine: "We've been a huge fan of his, so we took a lot of inspiration from him and wanted to give him a tip of the hat."
  • The song topped the UK singles chart. Jake's dad is comedian and EastEnders actor Shane Richie, who had a #2 UK hit in 2003 with a charity cover of Wham!'s "I'm Your Man" in December 2003. If it wasn't for Will Young's "Leave Right Now," which beat Shane Richie to the top of the tally, father and son would have achieved a rare chart double.

Jake's mum, Colleen Nolan, has also achieved chart success. The youngest of the Nolan Sisters, she became an official member of the group in mid 1980, contributing to five Top 20 hits in the UK, including "Gotta Pull Myself Together" and "Attention To Me," which both peaked at #9.
