Songfacts®:

  • Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton announced their separation on February 24, 2014 after 21 years together and almost nine years of marriage. Thicke debuted this song four months later at the 2014 BET Awards. Before the singer even played a note on his piano, he gave this introduction: "I'd like to dedicate this song to my wife, and say, 'I miss you, and I'm sorry.' This is called 'Forever Love.'"
  • The song was included on Thicke's Paula album, which was dedicated to his wife. During a #AskThicke Twitter session the singer was asked why he decided to make the album about his famous ex? He replied: "Because 'Beatrice' didn't have the same ring to it."
