  • This synthy tune was debuted during the sixth and final series of the HBO show Girls. It plays toward the end of an episode called Full Disclosure, during a scene in which Lena Dunham's character Hannah watches on her laptop a film that her former boyfriend, Adam, had made about their relationship. As Hannah stares at the small screen, she is caught off guard by the film's emotional opening scene, which shows how they first met.
  • Robyn has been a fan of Girls, since her song "Dancing On My Own" soundtracked Hannah and Marnie's Season 1 cathartic bedroom dance session. In an Instagram post, the Swedish pop songstress explained that Lena Dunham, selected the song from a catalog of music she was working on. She wrote:

"I was so happy she asked me if she could put another of my songs in the series. I sent her some music I'm working on and she picked Honey. It wasn't ready to be released, but we finished this version for her and Girls."
  • Following the track's first outing in 2017 during Girls, Robyn completely remolded it, converting the tune into a slow-burning pop-house cut. She told Pitchfork:

"The song was recorded in many different places: Sweden, Paris, LA. All of those vocal sessions made it into the final recording. I was in a particular mood when I was writing it, and the lyrics talk about going to a sensual place, in the same way I talk about making music because it makes me feel good, that it's a playful thing, something that I can do that soothes myself if I do it in the right way."
