  • Born Rodarius Marcell Green, Rod Wave is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Wave is known for his passionate vocals, honest and introspective lyrics, and a unique blend of hip-hop and R&B. He is recognized as a trailblazer of soul-trap.
  • Wave grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, and had a difficult childhood. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father went to jail. Wave turned to the streets to make money and was involved in several illegal activities, finding himself in and out of juvenile centers. He often reflects on his early life experiences in his music, using his lyrics to share his personal struggles and the adversity he faced while growing up.
  • In 2016, Wave released his first mixtape, Hunger Games Vol. 1. He dropped several more mixtapes over the next few years and began to gain a following for his unique sound.

  • All 18 tracks on Rod Wave's fifth studio album, Nostalgia, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the week after its release.
  • Rod Wave welcomed his twin daughters - Kash and Mocha - with his longtime girlfriend, Kelsey Dee Coleman, in 2020. On his 2021 single "Street Runner," Wave apologizes to Kelsey for being away from home, grinding all the time. He admits his busy lifestyle is detrimental to their relationship.
