Songfacts®:

  • This sweet and easy track finds Rudimental joining forces with dancehall trio Major Lazer. The song finds previous collaborator Anne-Marie pleading for independence while Nigerian afrobeat singer Mr. Eazi adds a West African flavor to the cut.
  • Anne-Marie previously worked with Rudimental on the We the Generation tracks "Rumour Mill" and "Love Ain't Just A Word."
  • Rudimental told Clash Music that they started "Let Me Live" when Mr. Eazi was in London and did a session with them. After he laid down his vocals they changed the key and recruited Anne-Marie. Rudimental then sent it on to Major Lazer, who flew to London to work with them on the track.

After Major Lazer had added their contribution, they heard Lady Blacksmith Mambazo were passing through London; the south African vocal group ended up recording the backing tracks in the middle eight.
