  • Geddy Lee, Rockline, May 13, 2002: "I think Sweet Miracle was the second song we wrote for this album. This came from the very earliest parts of the writing sessions, and it just happened. The lyrics I felt were very moving, and the melody just came out of me." >>>

  • Julie from Bonaire, GaMike, that is an awesome analysis. I had never thought of Sweet Miracle in that way, but I bet Neil did!
  • John from Asheville, NcLove the dynamics at work here. One of if not my favorite song off Vapor Trails. It gets a lot of guff on the Rush boards, but I love it. Heavy...with tons of melody.
  • Mike from Sayville, NyI've loved this song since I first heard it.
The three verses sound to me like the stages one goes through after a tragedy. Certainly fitting, given what Neil Peart had to endure.

First verse: Despair - Swept beneath the surface, lost without a trace, no hope at all.
Second Verse: Anger - Raging against the night, starless night
Third Verse: Acceptance - Rising up from the surface to fly into the light.
