Songfacts®:

  • The Fool album starts off with Ryn Weaver leaving a bad relationship, and as the record progresses she finds her strength and independence. She told HMV.com: "I've always been in relationships that are a bit overbearing, so it's about taking time for myself and traveling and finding love with lots of different people."
  • This electronic-tinged folk song is about the singer's various former loves, including Pierre, who "spoke in broken English but the heart was there."

Weaver penned the song with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder. She recalled: "We started a melody together, I hummed and hummed and we came up with the song and then I went home and finished it by myself, I was too scared to finish it in from of him. I'm very protective of my words and I didn't want anyone else's input on them. So I took it home."
  • The song plays during the final episode of the first series of the ABC drama thriller series Quantico in a scene where the NATs (New Agent Trainees) celebrate with drinks.
  • "Pierre" took on a second life as a TikTok favorite in the 2020s, sparking a wave of viral trends and fan tributes.
