Songfacts®:

  • Shaun Morgan's late brother Eugene committed suicide in 2007 by jumping from the window of the Radisson Hotel in Rapid City, South Dakota. Since then, the loss of the Seether frontman's brother often seeps through into his songwriting, especially when he writes music on the emotional end of the spectrum. This song, for instance, deals with the whole concept of loss. Morgan explained to Artist Direct: "When I began writing it, it was really simple, but I liked what it was inspiring in me as far as emotion and lyrics. I ran with that."

"When we got in the studio with (producer) Brendan O'Brien, it became more interesting. He added some parts and made it prettier."

  • Austin Kuna-beck from BuffaloThis song reminds me of my grandfather that passed away in 2019. He was like another father and brother to me since we had the same birthday. RIP Frank Hathaway 5-23-42 - 2-7-19
  • Rocko from AlaskaOn the vinyl version just before the guitar starts you can faintly hear the producer say "try it again".
  • Robert from Portland, TennesseeShaun, I usually wouldn't do this kind of thing but I hope that it gets to you. I lost my daughter on November 26, 2015...Thanksgiving day. She was twelve years old. Just starting the confusing pattern of life and she was beautiful, smart, compassionate....as close to perfect as it gets. Your song, "Save Today," completely describes my feelings. It's beautiful, just like she was and always will be to me. And I know, that I'll see her on the other side...thank you.
  • Oliver Westervelt Jr from Perry, MichiganBeautiful song guys. Mellows me out when it comes on the radio, and makes me remember the ones I
    lost.
