Songfacts®:

  • This seductive and infectious reggaeton track finds Selena Gomez and the Puerto Rican rapper/singer Rauw Alejandro looking to get together despite language barriers. They might not fully understand each other, but the pair can still use intimate dance moves as their form of communication. The song title translates to "Dance With Me."
  • "Baila Conmigo" is the second single Gomez released from her debut Spanish-language EP, REVELACIÓN. Like the first single, "De Una Vez," it was helmed by the Puerto Rican producer Tainy (Bad Bunny, J Balvin) along with Albert Hype and Jota Rosa. The track combines energized reggaeton rhythms and guitar with an empowering hook and seductive verses.

"It was a really interesting song for me to work on with Selena, since it fuses an authentic reggaeton sound with elements like the plucked electric guitar that lean more pop," commented Tainy. "Rauw's melodies captured that essence and complemented Selena's very well.
  • Gomez told Apple Music's Zane Lowe that she thinks she sings better in Spanish than English. "I think Spanish came very naturally to me," she explained. "Being able to say, and speak, and roll my Rs, and do all of that, that's already in me, thank goodness."
  • Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Nogari directed the accompanying music video. Shot between Los Angeles, Miami, and a remote fishing village in Brazil, the visual shows a girl watching and mimicking Gomez performing the song on the television while a boy admires her from afar. Eventually, the two meet and begin dancing together. After forming a connection, the pair ride off on the boy's motorcycle together.

Gomez said in a statement, "With 'Baila Conmigo,' I want to get everyone dancing. The video portrays the sense of isolation we all are experiencing right now and how music truly does connect us all no matter where we are in the world."
  • Kris Floyd, Edgar Barrera, and Elena Rose wrote the song. Floyd told MTV News they set out to tell a story Selena Gomez could identify with. "What we thought is that it's music that you can dance to," he said. "Music doesn't have a language when you can move to it. It's about having a connection with a person without having to talk so much."
