  • In 2010, Shania Twain divorced her husband of 17 years, Robert "Mutt" Lange, after he had an affair with one of her closest friends, Marie-Anne Thiébaud, who was also a secretary at the couple's Switzerland chateau. This heart-rending track finds Twain sharing her heartache upon learning of her ex-husband's unfaithfulness.

He never told me how long
I'd been living in the dark
No one turned the light on
I fell and broke my heart

"That's my divorce low moment," Twain admitted to BBC. "That's me indulging and just feeling sorry for myself."
  • "Poor Me" was written solely by Twain. She also co-produced the track. "I pushed myself, knowing it was going to scare me and knowing that I, alone, was responsible for however it turned out," Twain explained. "I love collaborating, but I didn't want any emotional, psychological or musical influence. The minute you invite somebody into that space, you're influenced. And then it wouldn't be me. It wouldn't be pure."
  • Twain told the BBC that Now is not a break-up album - despite having songs that specifically reference the extramarital affair Lange had with her best friend.

"There are so many songs on the album that have nothing to do with my divorce at all," she said. "It's about the journey of my whole life and all the disappointments I've been through. It's about the ups as well as the downs."
