Songfacts®:

  • Sheryl Crow in Billboard magazine: "'Drunk On the Thought of You' is that propensity that we all have to jump right in with believing in love, which is the motivating factor in life. You believe in the purity of love and the possibility. That song is just all about possibility, to really love somebody again."

  • KayeI trying to find a song to describe how I'm feeling with a current situation for lack of better explanation will say a crush. And I couldn't find anything until this song now. Every lyric is exactly right but especially the first verse and the chorus plus the two lines that say apologize if I don't get them exactly right comes on me with no warning I think about you and I get high. That along with the idea of the whole song and get drunk with the thought of this person but I don't even know only met twice and the first time was seven years ago the whole different situation. Trying to find similar songs with no luck about having these feelings for someone you don't know especially when you don't know if they're even an option.
