Songfacts®:

  • Shift K3Y, aka Lewis Jankel, is a London based house producer who started his music career supporting Skrillex in America as a DJ and remixing the likes of Tinie Tempah and Bastille.
  • This Garage-Pop tune is Shift's first single release. It was dropped on April 6, 2014 with remixes from Chris Lorenzo, Oxford, and Three Bar.
  • The song's success caught Jankel off guard. He told Digital Spy: "I never actually wanted anyone to hear that song. It was to the point where I actually just called it 'single idea volume two' and refused to send it to the label because I don't know, I didn't want anything to do with it. Then about six months after that the label had heard it and my management were like, 'Look, we have to do this song, it's one of the best songs you've got at the moment. We should run with it.' I was kind of like, really? Does anyone actually like it? "

"It's a funny one because those are usually the ones that people kind of react to the most, the ones that you don't really think of too much," he added. "You just kind of let it happen and then you know, you kind of get a bit embarrassed by it."
