  • Silk is best known for their #1 hit "Freak Me," but they had several other notable - and far less lascivious - songs as well, including "Hooked On You," the lead single from their second album.

The song finds the guy in a quandary. His girls is obviously creeping around, but doesn't have the fortitude to leave her because he's totally hooked.
  • "Hooked On You" was written by Andrea Martin, Kipper Jones, and the production team of Soulshock & Karlin (Carsten Schack and Kenneth Karlin). Jones had written hits for Vanessa Williams ("The Right Stuff," "The Comfort Zone") and Brandy ("I Wanna Be Down," "Baby"); Martin, who died in 2021 at 49, had written Monica's "Before You Walk Out Of My Life" and later wrote "Don't Let Go (Love)" for En Vogue. The song wasn't written specifically for Silk, but proved a good fit for the five-man vocal group.
  • In a Songfacts interview with Kipper Jones, he talked about the meaning behind the lyric. "It's got a little lilt to it, so it's kind of happy," he said. "You got shot, but you're happy about it. That's a weird place to be."
