• Long before "Baby Got Back," Sir Mix-A-Lot took the form of a futuristic square dance caller on "Square Dance Rap," where he does an NC-17 version of the dance:

  Grab her where the sun don't shine
  
  It was originally released in 1985 as the B-side of his first single, "I Just Love My Beat," and included on his 1988 debut album, Swass. "Baby Got Back" came out in 1992.
• Sir Mix-A-Lot sped up the vocals to give the song a futuristic funk sound, something the group Newcleus did in 1984 on their old-school classic "Jam On It."
• Mix-A-Lot released "Square Dance Rap" on his own label, Nastymix, in 1985, but it got picked up by the British label Streetwave in 1986 and released as a single in the UK, where it hit #81. On July 19, 1986 he performed the song at Wembley Arena in London as part of UK Fresh, a celebration of electronic hip-hop that also featured Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Roxanne Shanté and World Class Wreckin' Cru.
  
  Many rappers found the UK more welcoming around this time; Public Enemy had a bunch of hits there before they ever charted in America.
