Songfacts®:

  • "Can't Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)" is an atmospheric house track that samples Amy Winehouse's "Tears Dry on Their Own." Cleared for release by the Amy Winehouse Foundation, Skepta uses the late singer's vocals from the 2006 song, which is on her Back To Black album.
  • Noted for his seminal role in grime, Skepta has always had that house love deep in his bones. The North Londoner teased the track out in various sets over the summer of 2023, including during his show at Arcadia, Glastonbury. Appetite for an official release of the bootleg grew, and when he finally unleashed it on October 13, 2023, it entered the UK Singles chart at #28 the next week.
  • Skepta launched his house music label Más Tiempo - the Spanish translation of "more time" - with rapper and producer Jammer at Koko in Camden Town, London, in April 2023. It's the label's first song to enter the UK Singles chart.
