Songfacts®:

  • This song was inspired by Louise Lea, the wife of Jimmy Lea, the band's bass player. She came up with the opening "Everyday" line while her husband was playing around on the piano. Inspired, he wrote a melody around it and then the band's lyricist Noddy Holder added the words. >>>

  • The song returned to the UK singles chart in December 2013 thanks to its use in a TV commercial for the Nexus 7 tablet.

  • David Oz from Australia Everyday is a song about domestic violence. It's pretty scary. Don't get me wrong I love the band but some of their lyrics!! Wow.
  • Smeghead67 from UkI think they are miles apart but having an affair. "It won't even show, so no-one will know". The line you mentioned is because even though they are lovers behind closed doors, when they are together in public, they have to pretend they are " just good friends". At least that is what I think. I am in this exact situation myself.
  • Kirsten from New York, NyWhat does it mean "It won't even show" and "One little wave to say you'll behave"? Where/when is she supposed to wave at him? Why does he need to be assured she will "behave"? I like this song but I am confused about the details.
