Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of the eighth studio album by Sleater-Kinney. No Cites To Love was the rock band trio's first record after a decade long hiatus.
  • Drummer Janet Weiss explained on a Reddit AMA that the Sleater-Kinney's songwriting process is very collaborative. "Some of these songs began as a jam in our practice space, but many on the new record were started with just Carrie (Brownstein) and I knocking around guitar parts together," she said. "We all contribute to every song, and change a lot of the parts as develop it."
  • Sleater-Kinney recruited a number of their celebrity friends for the karaoke-styled video. The visual contains spliced-together footage of each star performing the song down the lens of a web cam. Guests participating in the clip include musicians Gerard Way and J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, comedian Sarah Silverman, SNL-ers Andy Samberg, Vanessa Baye and Fred Armisen plus actors Ellen Page, Evan Rachel Wood, Connie Britton, Brie Larson, Natasha Lyonne and Norman Reedus.
