Songfacts®:

  • This is a song that would not be out of place on an American blues album. A Francis Rossi/Bob Young collaboration, it is said to have been written in an afternoon in Rossi's kitchen, as Dave Nachmanoff and Al Stewart would do three decades later with "The Loyalist."
  • Running to around 2 minutes 41 seconds, "In My Chair" was released initially in October 1970 backed by the enigmatic "Gerdundula"; the single was produced by John Schroeder.
  • Initially a non-album track, a 4-minute version was included on the 1977 Live! album. >>>
