Songfacts®:

  • This was written by Glen Burtnik, who joined Styx when Tommy Shaw left to form Damn Yankees. Glen had released two modestly successful solo albums, and was asked to join Styx based on his guitar chops and songwriting skills. He worked on writing 5 songs for the Edge of the Century album, and also this one, which he wrote by himself and was included on the 2003 Cyclorama album. When we asked Glen about these contributions, he replied: "'Kiss Your Ass Goodbye' is one of my best for that band, I guess, because I wrote it completely solo and it came out strong. I guess I like 'Love At First Sight' because I think it made me the most money!"
