Songfacts®:

  • This mid-tempo track was co-written by prominent songwriter and producer Buzz Cason with Sugarcane Jane's guitarist and singer, Anthony Crawford.

In our interview with Crawford, he explained this song's meaning. "When you're on the road and you're just missing your home and family. I have to say, when you're home too much, you miss getting out there on the road, too. It's a little bit of a conundrum for a traveling musician. To be gone, you miss your home, but it's just like when you're doing anything for too long, you want something else. 'Home Nights,' it's just one of those clever little songs that Buzz and I put together."
  • The first verse of the song demonstrates well a musician's longing to be with their loved one:

Home nights sleeping with my baby
Home nights living with my love
Seems like I never stop dreaming
Home nights, there never are enough
    Home nights, Home nights
