Songfacts®:

  • Here, Summer Walker addresses an ex who didn't deliver in their romance. She'd given her heart to him but he treated her badly, leaving the singer dejected and bruised. Walker has learned her lesson, and if she can go back in time, there'd be "no love." Instead, she'd remain emotionally detached and just benefit from the relationship physically.
  • SZA croons a guest verse where she too addresses a former boyfriend. Their romantic partnership was also toxic, and if the TDE singer could do it again, she'd invest much less.

I would give like ten percent
You deserve like half of that
    I'ma need my money back
  • Summer Walker recorded the song for Still Over It, the follow-up to her debut album, Over It. The record is heavily inspired by her on-off relationship with Atlanta producer London On Da Track. The pair first started dating in 2019 when they collaborated on Over It, but there were rumors of his straying. After several splits, they broke up for good in the summer of 2021.
  • SZA and Walker wrote the song with its Canadian producer FORTHENIGHT (Bad Bunny's "P FKN R," Don Toliver's "Can't Feel My Legs"), and Brazilian producer Sonni.
  • Walker released Still Over It on November 5, 2021. Eighteen out of the 20 tracks debuted on the Hot 100 the following week, with this song, at #13, the highest entry.
  • Summer Walker released an extended remix with rapper Cardi B on March 25, 2022, as the second single from Still Over It. "No Love (Extended Version)," finds Cardi B gently rapping an affecting verse where she doubles down on the "no more loyalty to her playa lover" sentiment of the original. In the week after its release the song returned to the Hot 100 at #29.
