Songfacts®:

  • The Swedish House Mafia is a group of three house DJs and producers: Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. The trio all hail from Sweden, though you probably got that from their name. This song is their first official single.
  • Just hours after the trio played this then untitled song at the Ultra Music Festival during the Winter Music Conference in Miami, a Czech house-music blog leaked a high-quality version called "Gangster the Dog." Steve Angello told MTV News: "I don't know where [the Czech blog] got [that name] from! Sebastian's dog is called Gangster, but I don't know how they pasted his dog together with a track! It was kind of confusing, but, you know, now it's out."
Such was the buzz drummed up by the leak that SHM officially released the single under the name "One." Angello told MTV News: "Dirty South [a close friend of the trio] was playing the record, and somebody in Montreal recorded his set without telling him. After that, we just had to release the record, because everyone was buzzing about it and there were all these clips on YouTube and file-sharing things. So we had to make a quick move and release the record, otherwise it would have been destroyed."
  • A vocal version titled "One (Your Name)" was also recorded featuring American rapper Pharrell Williams.
  • The song charted in the Top 10 of the singles charts of several different European countries including Belgium and The Netherlands.
