Songfacts®:

  • This R&B/pop song was leaked from rapper T-Pain's fourth studio album RevolveR. The culprit behind the leak was no lesser person than the Auto-Tune king himself. Because the previous singles from the album did not chart as well as planned, T-Pain decided he would start releasing the tracks as promotional singles. He stated: "Since nobody wants to respect this form of art that you all say we 'love' so much, I'm just gonna go ahead and start leakin the album myself tonight." The plan worked as the song became T-Pain's first Top 40 hit since "Freeze" in 2008.
  • The song features Chris Brown, who contributes some un-processed vocals. The pair previously collaborated on "Freeze" and Brown's hit "Kiss Kiss." T-Pain told The Boombox that when it comes to love songs, Brown is the best man for the job. "If I'm making the best love song I can ever make, I gotta get the person that I love all of their love songs," he said of teaming with Brown again. "You know how he writes all the melodies - what better person to get than the one you got to love when it comes to things like that."
  • Lyrically the song finds T-Pain asking the club DJ to help him write the "Best Love Song" to win the heart of his romantic target for the night. We assume his Rap Song didn't work.
  • T-Pain came up with the song's title before the lyrics. He told Billboard magazine: "I didn't even write that song; once I named it, I just went in the booth and blurted out whatever came to my head. Chris came to the studio while I was doing it, and he refused to NOT be part of the song, so I told him to go in the booth and do the same thing I did, don't try to write nothin' down, just go in there and let's get it done. And he just blurted out lyrics and it came out really nice."
  • Nappy Boy Entertainment producer Young Fyre supplied the beat, one of three he landed on rEVOLVEr. The Iowa native also has worked with several other notable artists including Chris Brown, Mario and Lil Wayne ("How To Hate.")
