Songfacts®:

  • Written by Gary Barlow, this emotional lament for a lost lover entered the UK chart at #3, failing to overtake All-4-One's "I Swear" at #2 and Wet Wet Wet's cover of "Love Is All Around" at #1. The song consequently ended Take That's string of chart-topping singles, with "Pray," "Relight My Fire," "Babe," and "Everything Changes" having all debuted at #1.
  • A more stripped-back version of this song was recorded for release in the US, although it had little success. Take That also recorded a Spanish rendition called "No Si Aqui No Hay Amor," which entered the Espana chart at #2.
  • In 2018, Take That collaborated with fellow '90s sensation Boyz II Men on a newly arranged version of this song for their greatest hits album, Odyssey. A decade prior, Boyz II Men reinterpreted "Back For Good" as part of their covers album, Love.
  • The music video finds Take That dressed in white outfits and performing in a recording studio-style setting. A group of violinists accompanies the band in the second half of the clip. It was directed by Liam Kan and Grant Hodgson, who previously worked with Take That on the video for the Everything Changes version of "Why Can't I Wake Up With You."
  • "Love Ain't Here Anymore" was the sixth and final single released from Take That's sophomore studio album, Everything Changes. According to Billboard, the album has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. It also holds the record for the most number of Top 10 singles by a band in the UK.
