On this 1980s disco style duet Fergie and will.i.am blend romance and dance. The Peas weren't the first to come up with this title: Kenny Loggins had a 1987 song called "Meet Me Half Way."
Fergie told The Daily Mail July 31, 2009 that when recording her vocals for The E.N.D., she found herself inspired by some of the singers she grew up with. The singer added that for this song, she "transported myself back to 1985, when I was 11 and saw Madonna in concert for the first time on the Virgin tour. I took on her persona in that song as a homage." This might explain the line, "Right at the Borderline is where I'm gonna wait for you."
When this reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, The Peas became the first group to pull three Top 10s from an album since Nickleback placed a trio of songs from All The Right Reasons in 2005-07.
When this topped the UK singles chart the Peas became the first American act to have three British #1s with original songs in a calendar year since Blondie in 1980.
